Kingspan recently introduced the newly designed KS45FRP Partition panel for food processing and wash-down environments. Insulated panel systems are ideally suited for thermally controlled environments such as cold food processing and packing facilities. However, food safety, finished product protection and hygienic control is of utmost importance to clientele. The once popular field applied application of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) over insulated panels had its challenges. The CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) recently banned the use of Field Applied applications of FRP due to the inconsistent adhesion and voids behind the sheets allowing moisture and microbal growth to proliferate.
Kingspan has addressed this issue by developing and reintroducing a fully factory adhered Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) sheet to an insulated metal panel meeting the new CFIA and USDA requirements for applied finishes in a controlled environment.
The KS45FRP product is available in a full 45” width and can be cut to length for full or partial height for use as complete wall panel or wainscoting. The FRP product is Class A .090” FM Rated material meeting the code requirements for low flammability and smoke development.
The KS45FRP panel has enabled customers to realize the durability benefits of the FRP finish combined with a factory formed insulated metal panel for better performance and use on interior surfaces and exposed to higher cleaning concentrations, heat and humidity common in wash-down procedures in food processing environments.
